Project Description

Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre Expansion was a Joint Venture development, comprising a $100 million expansion of an existing sub regional shopping centre.


Waurn Ponds is a residential suburb located 7km south west of the Geelong CBD and 85km from the Melbourne CBD.

The Vision

The redevelopment of the Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre was positioned to provide the growing catchment of Waurn Ponds and surrounding suburbs with an increased diversity and quality of retailers, whilst improving overall accessibility and convenience to shoppers.

The Finished Project

The finished project resulted in the successful launch of a newly expanded centre comprising of an additional 17,600 sqm of lettable area, including a 6,800 sqm Coles Supermarket, 5,100 sqm Kmart, 60 retail stores including a multitude of national retailers and several casual dining operators.

A new Shell Coles Express Fuel Outlet and Hungry Jacks pad site were also part of the expansion works.

The total redeveloped and expanded Centre comprised a gross lettable area of 47,283 sqm with 1955 at grade car parks.
